HypnosisAndSuggestion.org is a neutral source of information about the science of hypnosis and suggestion. The motivation to create this site was originally driven by dissatisfaction with entries about hypnosis on the web. The Wikipedia entry, and the web in general, is flooded with misinformation regarding hypnosis. The aim of the site is to provide a central resource for people interested in the science behind this phenomenon. Hypnosis has been a legitimate source of scientific investigation, generally in the fields of psychology and medicine, for over a hundred years and the information on this site is drawn from the results of these studies.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Dissatisfaction with the quality of hypnosis on the web forced me to start the site. The majority of hypnosis information online is inaccurate or plainly wrong. My aim is to provide information backed by research evidence.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
All the catchy hypnosis related website names have been snapped up by people wanting to make money from it. I've tried to pick a name that reflects the subject matter.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
It's writted by a scientist, aimed at other scientists, medics, and skilled therapists. It's information backed up by references and evidence, rather than just opinion.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To become the central resource for hypnosis information on the web.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
The goal isn't to make money, it's to provide accurate information
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I'd advertise, to get the message out there.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I've had fewer questions, comments or queries than I imagined I would have got.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
It's been running for six months, I don't imagine stopping.
