FragrantHeart.com is a free information resource on meditation. It houses a growing collection of guided meditations and visualizations drawing upon traditional and modern meditation techniques. Most of the meditations are recorded as audio files so you can sit back, relax and listen to them on the site. There are meditations suitable for beginners and ones for more experienced meditators.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I've been meditating for more than 20 years and have found it a profoundly life-transforming experience. During this time I've had the privilege of learning from many inspirational teachers. My dream with FragrantHeart.com is to "give forward", as the saying goes, and create a sanctuary where anyone can give meditation a go.
What is meditation? How did you decide on a name for your website?
Meditation helps quieten the mind so you can listen to your "inner voice" or "heart". By listening to our hearts we can experience greater peace and better health which in turn bring us more fulfilled and balanced lives. So the web site was named "Fragrant Heart" to capture the spirit of this.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
There are a lot of sites out there offering meditation products for sale. But not many offer free quality audio content. Fragrant Heart bridges that gap and lets people listen to the meditations freely. Those who find the meditations helpful can leave a donation if they wish. So there's no pressure to buy and no regrets buying an unwanted product. Also, the site is not plagued with intrusive advertising and visitors tell us that makes a big difference to their enjoyment of the site.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To keep providing quality free content so more people worldwide can learn meditation and enjoy the benefits.
What are the benefits of meditation?
Meditation is a tool that enables your body and mind to release stress. Your body heals itself when it is relaxed and free of tension. Possible benefits of meditation include improved concentration, less prone to worry and stress and a greater feeling of inner peace and wellbeing. One of the biggest misnomers about meditation is that it's difficult to learn. It's really not. Anyone can enjoy the benefits of meditation and greatly enhance their life.
