What did you use hypnosis for?
As a psychologist and certified hypnotherapist, I use hypnosis (both with my patients and myself) for a variety of purposes, including stress, pain management, smoking cessation and anxiety.
What traditional methods had you tried, and why do you think they were ineffective for you?
Self-hypnosis audio programs, with or without a "Light and Sound Machine." No-Cost / High-Tech Solution to De-Stress
If you are interested in Light & Sound Machines, I HIGHLY recommend this fully-functional SHAREWARE! Created in the early 90's, it was designed to entrain brainwaves with flickering lights. Simply choose the settings you want, sit in front of your monitor, and close your eyes. The software then pulses your computer monitor so that you see the flickering behind your closed eyelids.
According to its website, this is a one-of-a-kind "Virtual Light & Sound Machine" software. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE IT WITH OTHERS, AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT ALTER IT NOR CHARGE A FEE FOR IT.
The original software was recently given new life by a Pennsylvania psychologist. The shareware now allows the previously out-dated program to function within our modern Windows environment. It offers a surprisingly effective and seemingly effortless feeling of DEEP RELAXATION, within only a few minutes, which is very similar to actual Light & Sound Machine goggles.
Tucows even offers an alternative download link for the shareware: http://www.Tucows.com/preview/509052

Why did you decide to do self-hypnosis, or have someone else perform the hypnosis for you?
As early as 1997, Dr. Herbert Benson of the Harvard Medical School has affirmed that "Sixty to ninety percent of [doctor-patient] visits are prompted by conditions related to stress." Self-hypnosis and other forms of meditation are healthy exercises physically and emotionally.
What research did you do before deciding to use hypnosis?
I have been in private practice for over 12 years.
Whether on a recording or in person, how did you feel about the voice of the person performing the hypnotism, and how do you think that impacted the outcome?
It's important to have a voice that is soothing and reassuring.
What was the cost of the hypnosis, and how fair is that price, considering your outcome?
Although prices can vary, I believe that $75 for a half-hour session is fair.
How successful was your hypnosis, and to what degree was it a success?
EXCELLENT!
How important do you feel dedication and faith is in the hypnosis process?
It's important to be open to the hypnotic process.
Why would you (or wouldn't you) recommend this for others, and what advice would you give to those considering it for the first time?
I highly recommend hypnosis!
