Death as an idea is one of the most touched topics that man has ever learned to talk about. It evokes a lot of emotion, a lot of memories, and a lot out of a person's imagination. I cannot imagine any person who has not given a single thought about this aspect of human life even for a single second.
One cannot avoid death. That is something I'm sure we already know. Death is a part of life. In fact, life is completed with death. Thus, it is not surprising that, given humanity's immense imagination, there are a lot of pieces out there in literature that personifies this element, as humans have done so in the past.
Since the 15th century, Death has been widely depicted as the Grim Reaper, a skeleton wearing a long black cloak and holding a scythe in his hands. Most of these depictions are male, though a handful of personification in a number of cultures depict Death as female. What's noticeable about these depictions is that Death is not depicted as somewhat evil, despite the hideous look. This is, again, due to the fact that meeting with Death is inevitable. He or she is just like one of the personified elements out there.
In earlier times, Death is called the Angel of Death, and angel Death really is. In these depictions, Death looks like an angel that we have been accustomed to, except that he/she has black wings and black clothing.
In my life, I have also come to accept the fact that someday I will have to die. However, while I understand that my time will come, I really don't want it to come this early. I want to fulfill my ambitions. I want to leave my mark. I want to help a lot of people. I still want to wait for some people and show them my love. I still want to live a long lifetime ahead of me.
Please, Death, I do not want to meet you so soon.
