I don't about the area where you are in, but in my place, it's a curious phenomenon that despite the advances in science and technology, divination techniques like feng shui are still prevalent. What's more interesting is that those people are not consulting experts for personal tips, but for their respective businesses as a whole.
Such is the case of feng shui and many of its derivatives. Simply put, feng shui is an ancient Chinese system that studies aesthetics to help improve's people's lives. Based on my observation, good and bad energies have always played a major role in deciding where certain things to certain places.
In order to find out where the good and bad energies go, a certain feng shui compass, called luo pan, is used to find out the energies associated with every spot. As you can see, feng shui has very accurate measurements and predictions.
Interestingly, unlike the other divination methods, feng shui is widely practiced in the West and has already become an important component of interior design, although much of the traditional knowledge about feng shui has already been disregarded. Furthermore, feng shui is also not seen by many as a divination scam and actually spend a lot of money in this practice.
Feng shui is not without criticisms. Due to its popularity, it has been historically called by most scientists as a mere pseudoscience that we should all avoid believing in. Traditional feng shui experts have also mentioned that the essence of the old feng shui is already long gone. Despite these criticisms, the modern practice of feng shui still continues.
I know a lot of people who believe in the use of feng shui in the interior design of their establishment--well not that they really believe in feng shui. They're just saying that nothing much will be lost if they do implement a feng shui master's recommendation. I guess we all have our own preferences. How about you? What do you think about feng shui?
