It is believed that a host of celestial bodies make up our dynamic universe. These bodies would be Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and even Pluto, which is now actually considered as being the dwarf planet.

These planets were all worshipped by indigenous cultures from all over the face of the earth and under various names, as well.

Since time immemorial, these celestial bodies have influenced many an action of man and the majority of myths that stem from religion was influenced by the stars.

Your title is misleading. There is no use of western astrology in Orisa Worship at all. None. Western Orisa worshipers can continue to use it if they like, but it has nothing to do with Orisa tradition.

Africans do have their own indigenous understanding of the stars. But western astrology is widely considered inferior to traditional African systems of similar elk.
